The inspiration behind:
Where Wishes Grow
followed by a poem that seemed to put into words everything the painting had been quietly expressing…
I've been working on this painting for most of the year. Not consistently, not with a particular deadline in mind, but in the spaces between clients, commitments, responsibilities, and all the other things that make up a life.
A little here. A little there. Sometimes, after weeks away, I would return and add another flower, another layer of color, another detail. Sometimes I just look at it, wondering what else it needs.
Somewhere along the way, the process of creating the painting became part of what the painting itself expressed. Life happens in the in-between spaces, too.
We often think that the things we wish to create, experience, or become require ideal circumstances. Enough time. Enough resources. Enough certainty. A clear path, an open door, perhaps even permission.
But wishes grow in the most unexpected places. Between the cracks. Under the dirt. Beyond the boundaries of what we've been told is possible, appropriate, or realistic.
They survive seasons of neglect, the weight of expectations, and the stories we've come to believe about ourselves. They take root in places we might have considered impossible. And sometimes, long before we can articulate what we're creating, something within us already knows.
